Introduction

Set within 2 campuses on either side of the Seine river, in Le Pecq and Le Vésinet, our preschool classes (1.5-4 years old) are strongly Montessori based. Classes are taught exclusively in English by Montessori-trained English teachers. We accept children from age 18 months in our Le Pecq campus and from the moment they turn 2 years old in Le Vésinet.

Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 15-18 children in order to ensure an optimal learning experience. Also, all classes with children under 3 years old include a full-time teaching assistant in addition to the main class teacher.

We have adopted the Montessori method of education because we believe it offers extraordinary benefits in terms of the child’s development of autonomy- and personal and intellectual growth at the early stages of his or her school experience.

Our Le Pecq and Le Vésinet campuses work hand in hand in order to organize the year’s theme work and activities, and coordinate field trips.

All our nursery and pre-primary classes follow the principles of the Montessori teaching method. The attributes of the Montessori principles are:

  • Student choice of activity from within a prescribed range of options
  • Uninterrupted blocks of work time
  • A constructivist or "discovery" model, where students learn concepts from working with materials, rather than by direct instruction
  • Specialized educational materials developed by Montessori and her collaborators
  • Freedom of movement within the classroom
  • A trained Montessori teacher

In summary the Montessori teaching method aims to develop the whole child fully, ultimately preparing them for life’s rich experiences.
