Earth Day 2022

Earth Day at MIS 1

We ended the half-term before Spring Break by celebrating Earth Day 🌎 🌳 🌱 🌎 throughout the school!

Pre-primary made some beautiful recycled yogurt pots flowers 🌸 🌺 💐 The children enjoyed a day of learning about their beautiful Earth and how we can look after it! Planting, correct binning of rubbish, recycling, reusing, switching off our electricity, conserving water, using alternatives to plastic, looking after our animals, insects, trees, bees and butterflies for pollination … and more! 🐝 🌍🙏❤️💖🦋

All classes prepared their planters with a variety of seeds (tomatoes, strawberries, flowers etc…) and learnt about the life cycle of a plant.

Earth Day commenced in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 by exploring everything we love about our planet.
The pupils learned about the delicate ecosystems that play a part in keeping our planet habitable for human beings. They looked at coral reefs, forests, bees, butterflies and fish and how they play a vital role in keeping our planet healthy. The students made earth day pledges and promised to do their bit to keep our planet happy. ☺️🌍
The children also decided to go to the public park in front of school to pick up rubbish.

This was a wonderful day of learning and acting for our planet! Thanks to all for your involvement!
